| So far great watch rugged and accurate. I use the world time a lot. Time capture is a total waste. Would be a great watch if it had a count down timer and could remember more than one lap...no problem with battery. alarm is weak... |

| I've had this watch for over 7 years now. The battery has maintained it's full charge for the entire time having never left the "high" slot. I've swam with it in the ocean and dropped it several times. It still performs flawlessly. Some of the letters emblazoned on the dial have come off. The chrome finish on the antennae has come off. The rubber is starting to loosen a little around the dial. But electronically it is still sound. Buying any product is like two people buying the same make and model of a car. There's always a chance you might get a lemon. In my case I got a well-made one. I would definitely reccomend it. BTW, the price hasn't increased in 7 years. |

I got this watch as a Christmas gift a couple of years ago. During the time I had it, I used it virtually every day (except for weekends), and it never gave me problems. I needed a watch to be my daily workhorse, and this one stood up well to abuse at work. This watch also accompanied me on camping trips and night time spearfishing, and it held up perfectly. While the wrist band accumulated a lot of scratches, it showed no signs that it was going to break. The extra tall bezel really helped protect the face from scratches, which is especially helpful while spearfishing. And despite the fact that it didn't get much light exposure during the weekends, it always had a full charge.
One small gripe I have is that the light only stays on for about one second when you press the button. My previous G-shock stayed on for about 1.5 seconds--not a big difference, but that little bit does help when you are poking around underwater at night. But overall, this is a small gripe, and I was still very pleased with the watch.
I was unable to use the atomic calibration feature, as I am well outside of the 2000 mile distance from Fort Collins. I live in Hawaii, but for kicks & giggles, I tried to do it anyway, but got no signal. However, this is no fault of the watch, as I am over 3000 miles away. I have read in a review for a different model of Casio atomic watch that a user in Hawaii was able to get a signal; so for people in my situation, I'd recommend doing it from a tall building, and on the balcony if possible.
Sadly, I no longer have this watch because I lost it yesterday (long story). I will be replacing it with another G-shock, but probably a different model. |

Attributes:
1. Black Resin Band: The band is in perfect condition after almost two years of daily use, and is unlikely to break anytime soon. But just in case, I purchased 3 replacement bands (ordered model "GW700" from Amazon Casio Genuine Replacement Strap for G Shock Watch Model # GW-700Y-1V, GW-700E-1V, GW-700U-1V, GW-700A-1V, GW-701-1V") but now I'm thinking I wasted my money because the band will likely never need to be replaced. As you've guessed, I planned to be into this watch for the long term!
2. High functionality: Big Time display! Also clearly displays Day, Date, Month, multiple international city times, (for travel) stop watch, alarms, hourly chirp, etc... The display is also clearly readable when I wear my polarized sunglasses.
3. Solar-powered rechargeable battery. Although batteries do not last forever, the manual basically states "after an extended period of time" replacement will be necessary. My non-solar Casio watches need new batteries after about 3-4 years; so I expect this battery to last maybe twice as long (I am guessing). I plan to send the watch back to Casio (factory) and have them replace it. Till then, I'm not going to worry.
4. Atomic watch accuracy: Every morning, at 2am, 3am, 4am and 5am, the watch enters a special mode where it listens for the atomic clock signal from Fort Collins, CO., and re-adjusts at 5am. Only disadvantage I noticed was when I got up early one morning to catch a 5:05am train...as I stood on the platform I looked at the watch and I was unable to tell the time because it was in this "listening mode", so the clock face indicated this "mode" rather than the usual "time/date". Casio should change this so the watch still displays the time while it is "listening". One more thing: Every night I place the watch at the same location, with the band tucked in the strap (as directed in the instruction book) so it can sit upright, and I turn it toward the window. No problems with receiving the signal here on Long Island. But every time I travel (Washington DC, Mass., Upstate NY, Delaware) I do not receive the signal. But then again, I do not place the watch near a window when I travel.
5. Thick profile: I don't mind, cause I like it, but I know that I will run into trouble if I wear a dress shirt--it will be too thick under buttoned cuffs. That is why I have another "dress" watch for that. Yes, this watch is slightly "heavy" too, but again, nothing disturbing or conspicuous about the thickness or weight.
6. Rugged: Yes, like the old Casio TV commercial, use the watch as a hockey puck and give it a slap shot...WHAM! I expect nothing less from Casio G-Shock. Check out the Wikipedia entry on Casio "G-Shock" for more info.
7. Misc: What else? Excellent indigo backlighting. The combination Black, red and silver is very appealing. Water tight so I can wear it at the beach. I love this watch, and if you've read this far, I can almost promise you will too.

| I bought this watch for my husband in March this year as a bithday present.The watch looks very nice, it is not too big,it may feel a little heavy in the beginning but once is on the hand you will adjust to it. It has a lot of futures besides acuracy and changing time and light.some extra ex.records running times.My husband loves the watch and he is wearing it everyday. He do not have to charge it at all. He just wear it. The watch will catch the sun light every possible way during the day and it will charge itself so the batery is always fully charged withouth hassle. Another thing cool about the watch is saving batery. at night when there is no light or movement the wtch will go blank to save the batery and as soon as you move it closer to your eyes it will pop up again.also the future of changing time zones adjusting time for different countries is very nice.That was an ideal gift that will last for a long time. |
