Customer rating is 5 of 5  Great Little Gadget For The Money   2010-02-17
By David (Philadelphia Pa.)
This gadget worked flawlessly right out of the box. All you do is line up the pin pusher with the pin you want to remove and turn the handle, remember to push the pin out in the direction of the arrows on the watchband. I removed 3 links in 5 minutes. The key is to line it up correctly, if you turn the handle and meet some resistance then ir's not lined up right. Back it out and start over.

Using this Watch Band Pin remover is easier than taking candy from a baby. Great little product that just paid for itself with 1 watch band.

Thanks Amazon for the usual prompt delivery.
Customer rating is 5 of 5  Very nice tool   2010-02-17

Excellent tool. I have a growing watch collection and always took my watches to a jeweler for band resizing. Although he doesn't charge much, it is quite inconvenient. I thought I would give this puppy a try and it worked quite well. The key is to make sure that the pin is centered and to apply just enough pressure up or down on the band so that the spring loaded base positions the driving pin perfectly with the bracelet pin. Get this right -- it doesn't take a rocket scientist although it does take some good eyesight -- and is all pretty foolproof. I like that the unit is a rigid plastic. It seems relatively difficult to scratch a watch unless you fail to line up the driving pin with the bracelet pin. Obviously, where the driving pin approaches the watch there is metal against metal so you will need to be careful but I can't see any other area where you would need to worry about scratching. I highly recommend this tool unless you are helpless, have poor eyesight, or find yourself with an older watch where the pins may be frozen in place. I gather you won't know the latter unless you try but if you run into resistance and verify that the pin is properly aligned and fits the hole (visually confirm before driving), best you stop. In my applications, it was like driving a hot knife through butter. Very smooth. As others note, make sure to drive in the right direction. The split end of the pin (assuming you have that type) gets pushed out from the opposite side. Reverse for reassembly and before you begin, note orientation of arrows stamped into the bracelet.
Customer rating is 5 of 5  Exactly What I Had Hoped For   2010-01-28

I always read the 1 star reviews to get an idea of what people are complaining about. After reading the 1 star reviews on this product I had no problem ordering it, and now that I have used it I know I made the right choice. This is one of the the EASIEST and most useful tools I've ever used. If you can't use this tool without breaking it you probably shouldn't be doing any kind of DYI repair. It's that easy to use. One review says it only fits small width bands like ladies watches. Not true. Out of the box my bit was already screwed in a few turns. I had to retract the bit... a bit. My men's Victorinox Swiss Army watch fit with plenty to spare.

The spring loaded platform is a great idea. I can't imagine using a similar tool without the spring loaded platform since bands are not all the same thickness. Simply place the watch band against the edge of the tool with the arrow on the bottom of the band point out, press on the platform until it's at the correct height and align the pin hole with the pin remover. Slowly turn the screw until you meet resistance. At that point move the band slightly to "find" where the pin is located. Once you know you have the right spot continue turning the screw and the pin will pop right out the other end. You don't have to push it all the way through. All you need is a bit of the pin sticking out the other end to pull it out all the way either with your fingernail or small needle nose pliers or tweezers. To put the pin back in, enter the hole from the same side that it came out and with the pin in the same direction that it was removed. I had to remove four links and each one was that simple. It took maybe 15 - 20 minutes to do the job.

I've used it once and it's already paid for itself. I usually don't give 5 stars unless there was a problem and the company goes out of its way to fix it. From a price/performance/value perspective this tool is a 5.
Customer rating is 5 of 5  Great Product   2010-01-20

I read a lot of the reviews here before I bought this product. I was somewhat put off by the negative reviews, but since there were plenty of positive reviews I gave it a whirl.

I have seen people complain about the product being "flimsy" or poorly made. Come on, its about $10 and serves it's purpose. I found the product very simple to use. This was ordered at the same time as a swiss army watch that I knew would need to be adjusted. I took care of everything in about 10 to 15 minutes...

If you are on the fence with this item, I would suggest trying it out. Worse case scenario you are out 10 bucks, but that is only if you are doing it wrong.

I bought this to adjust the bands on my Watches with out having to pay someone else to do it for me. It works great. I've used it many times.
